Southern Cookin...

Had lunch at the SAC today... I love that building, but it was soooo packed because we decided to go right at the peak for the lunchtime rush. I ended up getting Pulled pork, mashed potatos, and macaroni at Charleston Market.
And I was accompanied by the ever pleasant Liz, Mercedes, and Corrie.
Also had my first classes today. Art History was kinda boring. Here's the still life I drew in my Drawing Studio.

Pot Lucks and Piercings...

So a few things happened today:
A few of us went exploring. Our destination... South Street.
I met Jill.
Dee got her back pierced.
Caught up with Chelsea and Rob.
We got some delicious yogurt. Best flavor: NY Cheesecake.
Some shenanigans went down...

Liz and I caught up outside an African Episcopal church...
Then we went back to 1300 to see everyone's apartments.
Caitlin's room seriously looks as though she just moved her room from last year and transplanted it on the 4th floor....
Then we had a dinner party that consisted of pasta, rice, salad...
Black bean Chili, gummi bears, cookies...
And some pretty awesome music.
All in all-- a success.
Now off to bed. 1st day of class tomorrow...

And We're Movin' On Up...

I'm back! Finally! A lot has been happening since I blogged last: Went back to Philly. Getting ready to start classes. Moved into my new apartment. Reunited with friends. And I have to say, I really did miss TU. I can't wait for classes to start... I need something to do!!!!!!!
I moved into University Village on Friday... our apartment is tiny. But I don't really need that much space. And besides, I kinda like that we have one of the smaller ones. I also love that Dee is living in our same building...
My bed is sooooooooo big. Absolutely humungous.
Probably my favorite part of my room.
I also like our kitchen. Filled with Presidents, PA Pride, and Sea Creatures.
Corrie's room looks fancier than mine... but let's face it, she is fancier than me.
And I find myself just spending extended periods of time standing in the bathroom... Starring at the map on our shower curtain.
I love maps.

Marker Madness...

Finally drew a little last night. Man... it's been a little while since I've gotten some practice in. Maybe I felt compelled because I leave for school in less than a week. Or maybe it had something to do with these new micron pens I got. The one is a brush tip... coolest pen ever!!! So these are my results, two self portraits... (pen and marker).

The Half-Blood Prince

I found this video saved on my camera today. I had actually intended to include it in the video about our trip to New Hampshire HERE! But for some reason lost track of it. Anyways, It seems like there was a little too much excitement for Grandma Keiran. She ended up passing out, hands clutched to the sixth Harry Potter book before we even made it out of Massachusetts.  I miss the Live Free state. And Crissy. But I'm excited to go back to school in a few weeks.

"Wait- I have to go in and put pants on."

It was a dark day in the 717 today. Kim left to go back to Purdue this morning... leaving the rest of us all feeling really really depressed to be without our Filipino. So last night Tyler, Cait, and I ambushed her in the middle of her frantic packing to surprise her with a drawing I did using Crayola Crayons. We sat in her driveway, watched shooting stars, traded college stories from the previous year, ate delicious apple biscuit pastries, reminisced about the olden times, and talked about her cult/sorority. Man, I'm going to miss her.
ANTM Pose: Kim, Liz Smith, and Me. Crayola Crayon and Pencil.

(Sidenote: I think these pictures reenforce my need for a new camera rather prominently.)

Hall and Oates

Reasons Why I Love Temple:

Reason 657793: Hall and Oates

"Daryl Hall first met John Oates at the Adelphi Ballroom in Philadelphia in 1967 while attending Temple University. Each was heading his own musical group at the time—Hall with The Temptones and Oates with The Masters. They were there for a band competition when gunfire rang out between two rival gangs, and in trying to escape, they ran to the same service elevator. Because of their similar musical tastes and close proximity inside the elevator, they quickly became acquainted. It would take them another two years to form a musical duo, and three years after that, they had signed to Atlantic Records and released their debut album. "
(Bio from Wikipedia... I know, such a scholarly source.)

What You Chalkin' About, Willis?

Slight change of plans: the mural project in my room has been revamped. I've decided to go in a new direction... no more paint. Paint's expensive. And I'm too indecisive. And besides, who do you think I am--a millionaire?! That's why I've decided to switch over to chalkboard paint. And I went to Michael's and got 10 pieces of chalk for 99 cents! Now that's do-able.
Honestly, looking back on it I don't know why I didn't realize it sooner. I mean, it's a known fact I can draw about ten times faster than I can paint. And after I start/finish something I always want to do something else. And I am always referring friends to Rockstar Diaries' use/love of chalkboard paint. But I think what really swayed me was the movie, 500 Days of Summer. His bedroom in it was probably one of my favorite parts. And I loved how he drew the header for his bed. And then could just erase it and draw something new! So, after my mom and dad headed off to work, and my sister drove off to Hershey Park, I decided to paint over the mural. I am actually pretty pleased with it. Who knows, maybe I'll bring some to Philly with me.

Temple Lives Free...

Oh New Hampshire... how I miss you.

Photo Booths.

Fact: Photo booths make me incredibly happy.
And sometimes I think of them as time machines.

Home in Harrisburg...

New Hampshire was wonderful!!!!!! Seriously one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The car ride back was alright. Mad props to C.Dubs for being a driving pro. We got stuck in "wicked" traffic all through Connecticut. I feel like everyone who lives there is just always trying to escape it.  Also... my mom took me to Ritas for italian ice and we bonded at the dog park with Trey. I went to 3B's Ice Cream with Noelle, Sara, Emily, Sarah Zig, and Kaity Black. Emmy was working and jumped through the window to hug me (it's kinda become a tradition now.) Now I'm extremely beat, so off to bed for me. I'll post more about NH later...
