Hall and Oates

Reasons Why I Love Temple:

Reason 657793: Hall and Oates

"Daryl Hall first met John Oates at the Adelphi Ballroom in Philadelphia in 1967 while attending Temple University. Each was heading his own musical group at the time—Hall with The Temptones and Oates with The Masters. They were there for a band competition when gunfire rang out between two rival gangs, and in trying to escape, they ran to the same service elevator. Because of their similar musical tastes and close proximity inside the elevator, they quickly became acquainted. It would take them another two years to form a musical duo, and three years after that, they had signed to Atlantic Records and released their debut album. "

Footloose!!!!!!

Reasons Why I Love Temple:
Reason 8793: Impromptu Studio Dance Parties...
This one time, during finals week, Keiran and Caitlin and Corrie came and helped me spray my drawing final. We got pastel all over ourselves. Then we danced some more.

(In other news: J. Carr is here!!! I missed her... and she is another reason why I love Temple!)

Shaving Time...

Reasons Why I Love Temple:

I think the fact that this picture was taken less than a week after I had arrived at Temple is a testament to the good times I had over the first year. Not to mention the amazing friendships that developed alongside the craziness that is our lives at Temple University. In this picture Mercedes and I decided to have a shaving cream fight in her dorm room... having known each other for about a week. I won... clearly.

International Man of Mystery...

Reasons Why I Love Temple:
Reason 763: I can convince my friends to make fools of themselves in public all around Temple's  campus and the city of Philadelphia.
These particular photos chronicle just one of my never ending jokes while having lunch with Alison and Carleigh.  I got the glasses as part of a 3D project and couldn't part with them, so I brought them to lunch with me the next day. And wearing them all throughout the SAC just seemed like the natural thing to do. Car and Alison really didn't want to get their photos taken... but luckily I can always count on them buying the excuse: "But It's for an art project!"

April Fools...

Reasons Why I Love Temple:
Reason 51: Sometimes, on April Fools Day, a bunch of my friends decide to make fake posters promising the students of Temple University rather interesting experiences and opportunities. They then hang them throughout my dorm, 1300. Funny story, the one above... actually entrigued enough people to form a mini gathering on the 3rd floor. Their excuses: "we really just came for the buffet."  Mhmmm... right.

Center of Attention...

Reasons Why I Love Temple:
Reason #54584: The SAC

Why: The Student Activities Center is one of my favorite buildings on the beautiful campus that is Temple University.  In fact it is tied for first place with the Tyler building. It is closely followed by Ritter Hall, the education school, on my list of favorite Temple buildings.  The SAC, as it is referred to, is absolutely amazing. No matter what I'm doing or where I am on campus, as soon as I pass the SAC I am captivated by the architecture. It is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. And is a wonderful example of new age design meeting traditional stylings. It is huge, housing a food court style cafeteria, a game room, our bookstore, a bank, a travel agency, numerous breakout rooms, help desk, post office, music practice rooms, orientation/large group rooms, classrooms, a performance stage, and a movie theater in the basement! Tell me that's not impressive. I love that everyone is allowed to use this building too... not to mention the numerous events and parties that are hosted there... for FREE!

Picture is a drawing assignment from last semester. We had to draw architectural elements.

Drawing Story: I spent all night outside in the cold drawing this magnificent building. When the morning came a food truck parked right in front of me... the security guard that had watched me drawing all night came outside and made the man move his truck so that I could finish... even more reason why I love Temple.

Sing Us a Song You're the Piano Man...

Reasons Why I Love Temple:
Reason 236: Impromptu piano rehearsals in room 324.
Towards the end of second semester Cait had been playing an amazing "Hedwig's Theme" from her Harry Potter Songs for Beginners book.

side note: both my mom and sister were apparently talking and wondering if I was alright recently. The reason for their concern: They had been checking my blog and I hadn't been blogging as readily as I have in the past.

Living Dead on the Broad Street Line

Reasons I Love Temple:
Reason 3847: On Halloween everyone gets dressed up and takes the subway to various parties, shows, and get-togethers.  Our destination on this particular night: The Of Montreal concert at Electric Factory. It was an amazing night and an amazing show...

I Miss You TU...

I miss Temple. I miss the SAC. I miss J&H. I miss the security guards that talked to me as I walked into the building at 3 am, arms filled with art stuff. I miss walking through the halls of Tyler. Standing outside starring at Tyler and thinking, "wow-- I go here". I miss the smog. The crosswalk beeping. Temple Star and Temple Garden. Late night runs to 7-11. Liacorus Walk. The sun never setting on Temple University. I miss my friends. I miss the acappella disney sing-alongs most of all, because singing by myself in my room just isn't the same as it was in 324SW.

Running With Scissors...

Reasons Why I Love Temple:

Reason #2334: I have unleashed my inner actor.

Reason #2335: I now have a life size paper cut out of myself...
